Dock Build & Repair FAQs
Now that you have a general idea of what a dock and our team can do, let’s get into the nitty-gritty of a dock installation. Below, we outlined some of the common questions we hear from our customers together with answers to help you get the information you need.
If you have other inquiries, do not hesitate to message us.
Installation depends on the type of floating dock you select. Many Coast Seawall Dock floating docks are easy to install with the help of an assistant. Our installation experts are always happy to handle it for you. That process often takes at least a day.
Other floating docks need extensive installation, particularly if you’re responsible for connecting the floatation devices yourself. However, to install a floating dock, you need to:
- Pick and prepare the dock location according to local laws, regulations, and codes.
- Install the couplers through the in-water coupler installation tool.
- Anchor the dock to keep it in place during turbulent weather or water conditions.
- Attach the dock to a gangway, if applicable.
- Add your preferred accessories, like handrails, ladders, seats, boxes, bumpers, and edging to your floating dock.
- Enjoy your new dock.
Other floating docks may need permits, depending on where the property is situated. Most homeowners associations or municipalities have strict restrictions about the dock’s environmental effect.
In rare situations, you might need to have a docking plan authorized before installation.
It depends on where you live. If you encounter icy, frigid winters, it is a great idea to detach the floating dock for the season to increase its longevity and keep it safe. If your winters are warm or mild, it may not be needed.
Coast Seawall Dock & Boatlifts’ floating docks are simple to remove and replace. Should you prefer to leave your dock up for the winter, it will simply rise and fall with the water level, safeguarding it and keeping it readily available.
The overall cost of a dock depends on the type and size of the dock, how many pieces are in your configuration, the manufacturer who makes the dock, and accessories.
Most property owners find their dock a valuable investment that pays for itself, particularly when listing their home for sale.
